United Methodist Committee on Relief

Compelled by Christ

As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need.

Connection is at the core of our work. UMCOR connects The United Methodist Church, its people and congregations to partner with others engaged in God’s global work, which takes place in a variety of settings, countries and cultures. The work of UMCOR responds to humanitarian relief & recovery, hunger & poverty, women & children, creation care, migration & refugees, global health, sustainable development, and water & sanitation.

The St John community is currently collecting items for HYGIENE (approx. value $12) & CLEANING (approx. value $75) buckets to help replenish supplies after a tumultous summer and spring weather seasons in the United States. In 2021, UMCOR responded to disasters in Louisana, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Florida, Texas, the Umatilla Indian Reservation, as well as the New England conference states affected by Hurricane Henri and the southeast states affected by a strings of severe thunderstorms, hail, and tornados.
